INTERIOR SIGNAGE
Entering a hospital can feel daunting in its scale and medical atmosphere for both patients and visitors. Added to this a person may already be ill or in pain. Feeling lost immediately adds stress and can quickly lead to fear or aggression. Therefore it’s important to present a welcoming environment and art can help in this process. Recognisable images and zoned colours can help guide a person through unfamiliar corridors and direct them to the correct floor and department in a hospital.
Here wildflowers are illustrated larger than life, dramatic in their scale but still recognisable as common to the British countryside and wayside verges – oxeye daisy, cow parsley, foxglove, snowdrop, etc., all colour coded for various departments to further aid in wayfinding.
