Pool riverside interpretation maps

Working alongside retired teacher, Richard Parker, we have created two large entrance sign boards (maps) sited at access points to the Pool Riverside Park, featuring drawings by the children of Pool School.

Workshops took place over 3 days in 1-hour sessions, thereby engaging every child in the school. They were encouraged to draw children playing within the park, wildlife and trees. The children were also invited to name areas on the map and this is why there are some wonderfully inventive names such as – ‘The Troll Bridge’. By engaging the children in such a meaningful way we hope that their parents and friends will also, by association, want to be involved in the future of the park that relies on the support and work of volunteers.

For the project we also designed a new logo for Pool Riverside Park along with numbered Information Posts that feature individual QR codes. The posts are placed at 10 key locations within the park. With a QR reader installed on your smart phone the unique codes link to specific location information on the website allowing the project to be constantly updated with new photos and project information to engage with the local community.
