Organ Donation Sculpture for Yeovil District Hospital, Somerset
Yeovil has long been associated with helicopter design and manufacture. Sycamore seeds, often known as 'helicopters', spiral to the ground unlocking new life. This sculpture depicts a single seed as if just fallen to earth.
The sycamore seed and plinth measures 2.5 metres tall. Though strong and robust it is designed to appear delicate, its tracery of veins containing uplifting words of encouragement for the families of donors, donor recipients and those considering organ donation: courage, new life, resolution, legacy, hope.
