TRANSFORMING THE RENAL THERAPY WARD AT BRADFORD TEACHING HOSPITALS
While the Renal Therapy Ward corridor was filled with plenty of useful information posters it was felt that the environment was in much need of a calming, restorative atmosphere.
Artworks can evoke memories and emotions and further enrich the atmosphere around a hospital. We chose wildflowers such as Rose Bay Willow Herb, Clover and Dandelions with their vibrant colours and varied heights to create a visually engaging pathway that leads the eye along the corridor. We added the occasional bee flitting around these blossoms to add to a sense of serenity.
This design not only adds aesthetic appeal but also symbolizes growth, renewal, and the beauty of nature, providing a sense of hope and vitality to those passing through.
Feedback
We received some wonderful feedback whilst installing these artworks from both patients and staff; dandelions were one person’s favourite wildflower, while another’s joy was the bluebells she can now view from her hospital bed.
